Abstract:: Over the last few years we have seen a fundamental restructuring of the global economy and, with it, massive changes in the challenges enterprises and governments face. And at the epicenter of these changes, we find the finance organization.

Against this backdrop, Accenture embarked on its 2011 High Performance Finance Study. Through our research, we wanted to understand the key challenges finance organizations face: how well-prepared finance executives believe their organizations are to address these challenges; which initiatives and capabilities finance executives believe will be critical to the success of their organization; and what characterizes "finance mastery" in the new business reality.

In our study we surveyed over 530 senior finance executives, approximately 300 C-level customers of finance ("CXOs"), as well as conducting in-depth interviews with chief financial officers (CFOs) and chief operating officers (COO) all at predominantly large global companies.
