Professor Frank Partnoy is the George E. Barrett Professor of Law and Finance and is the director of the Center on Corporate and Securities Law at the University of San Diego. He is one of the world's leading experts on the complexities of modern finance and financial market regulation. In his keynote address, "It's 1931 Again: Repeating History in Regulatory Reform," he will discuss the implications of the pending regulatory reforms. Partnoy worked as a derivatives structurer at Morgan Stanley and CS First Boston during the mid-1990s and wrote F.I.A.S.C.O.: Blood in the Water on Wall Street, a bestselling book about his experiences there. His recent book, The Match King: Ivar Kreuger, The Financial Genius Behind a Century of Wall Street Scandals, has received critical acclaim including being shortlisted for the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year and an appearance by Partnoy on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Rita Gunther McGrath, a Professor at Columbia Business School in New York and author of Discovery-Driven Growth, is best known for her work on strategy in volatile environments for clients such as GE and Microsoft. McGrath's academic publications have appeared in leading journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, and Management Science. In 2009, she was inducted as a Fellow of the Strategic Management Society, an honor awarded to those who have had a significant impact on the field. In her keynote address, "Tapping into Discovery-Driven Growth," McGrath will discuss the disciplines necessary to take advantage of high-growth opportunities.
